I think that one of the major differences between the way the iPhone looses signal and the way that many of the other phones loose signal. On many other phones, the problem is not that easy to replicate and you would have to hold it completely unnaturally in order to loose signal. This is how my Samsung is, where I can get it to drop signal, but only when I hold it in a manner that makes it impossible to use.

With that said, I think there are a lot of companies that have an interest in seeing the iPhone fail, so this ends up playing a big role in a lot of this debate.

I will say one other thing...
You can knock the signal out on most smart phones just by holding them in a different way!!
I was very sceptical to hear about an antenna band, but I still think it is genius, and I bet it will be copied.

@Kevin: I think that's why Apple had the press conference - to show that many are on the bandwagon. I have an iPhone 4 and have had no reception issues whatsoever, but this should answer some questions and offer a few solutions.

All the criticism of the iPhone 4 is starting to bug me now... I have an Apple bumper on mine, and have NO SIGNAL ISSUES.
Even people who don't own one, or never even held one are getting on the 'band wagon' and slagging it off!!!
I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, it's a truly fantastic piece of tech, so quick, easy to use and the screen is unbelievable, has to be seen to be believed, especially if your like me and thought the screen on the other phones and the iPod touches was good!
