To use a case or not to use a case? This question seems to come up for iPad users more often than iPhone or iPod users mostly because the iPad’s size. Many cases add some bulk and some people argue that they “take away from the experience.” What if you want to protect your iPad, while still maintaining its thin, lightweight design? Way back in 2010 Apple released a case along with the iPhone 4 that featured metal buttons to press the actual buttons on the iPhone and was lacking in one particular area—the entire back of the case. This, of course, was the infamous $29 Bumper, a rubber/plastic combination case available in six colors and not only protected the various “impact points” of the iPhone, but remedied any reception issues due to bridging the antenna gaps…

Although iPad cases are literally the new iPhone case, every once in awhile one comes across our desks that is just a little different from the me-too variety, but still very familiar. We’re not really sure if the play on words was intentional with marketing or not, but one of Belkin’s many forays into the iPad case world is the Grip Swell, a $40 (sometimes as low as $10) silicone iPad case…

Two weeks ago, we took a look at SwitchEasy’s Reptile iPad case. While some may prefer a case designed to stay on an iPad all the time, others seem to gravitate towards a sleeve design. Although it has been awhile since we have had any sort of review on the site, we’ve been testing a number of iPhone 4 cases. Although Apple’s antenna woes have made many want some sort case for the iPhone (some are still waiting for their free ones), there are a lot of great choices and a lot of duds. We had an opportunity to test out SwitchEasy’s $15 Colors case, a rather inexpensive and thin silicone case that offers quite a bit of bang for your buck…
